“Ain’t I got no right to talk to nobody.” Curley’s wife admits to Lennie that she is being prevented from talking to people on the ranch. Curley’s wife suffers from sexism because she is the only female on the ranch and also her husband, Curley, is very controlling and insecure about her faithfulness and trust. This prejudice causes her to be unable to interact with any of the workers on the ranch, consequently leading to isolation and loneliness. During this quote, Steinbeck is letting the readers know what Curley’s wife thinks of her position in Soledad and her dream for the future.
